I found the best Toilet as I’ve been remodeling my house. When it comes to remodeling a bathroom, choosing the right toilet can make a big difference in the overall look and functionality of the space. After conducting thorough research, I found that the Optum VorMax by American Standard was the best option for my needs.
Aesthetics
I liked the square look of water reservoir and the solid foundation. The toilet has a visible trap which is more conventional than a concealed trap or a skirted toilet. It also comes with an elongated bowl which I think it more comfortable. Lastly, I went with a white bowl to match my wall colors and also because white toilets are the most common.
Dimensions
The toiler has a 16-1/2″ tall seat, horizontal footprint of 30-5/8″ x 18″-1/16″ and total height of 30-13/16″. It fits easily inside my small bathroom. The most important dimension is the bottom connection point which has a 12″ minimum offset from the back wall.
Seat
The Optum VorMax comes with a slow close seat. This was nice because a similar seat would cost about $42. Since the seat came with the toilet I didn’t have to worry about buying the right one. The seat is easy to lift and self closes without slamming down. Really it doesn’t make any nose when closed.
Features – VorMax flush, Everclean finish and Clean Curve Rim
One of the standout features of this toilet is its VorMax flush technology, which uses a powerful and efficient flush to effectively clean the bowl with every use. The VorMax flushing system has been scientifically evaluated and confirmed to be twice as effective as traditional toilets in maintaining a clean bowl. This technology makes cleaning and maintenance easier in the long run, as verified by IAPMO R&T Labs through a comparison of VorMax against conventional toilets from major retailers.
The EverClean finish is permanent glaze on the surface of the toilet to protect the pipes from mold, mildew, algae and fungus that could cause deterioration or staining of the pipes.
The CleanCurve rim is the last stand-out feature. Essentially, this is a pre-formed path like a water slide. The flush water rushes around this slide as a way to keep nasty stains from building up.
The first thing I did when installing the toilet was test the VorMax flush. It really wipes the whole surface. It’s been installed about a week and there hasn’t been any build-up on the bowl surface yet.

Water Consumption
I live in a desert so water consumption is a big concern. The highest allowable flush rate is 1.6 gallons per flush and the lowest flush is 0.8 gallons per flush. I have five people in my house so I thought it was important to conserve water but also not use an ultra-low flush toilet that would clog easily or be constantly dirty. The VorMax toilet uses 1.28 gallons per flush. At 1.28 gallons per flush the VorMax qualifies as a high-efficiency toilet which saves up to 13,000 gallons per year compared to a traditional toilet! I thought the combination of the VorMax flush with a high-efficiency toilet gives the best of both worlds. A toilet that is both water efficient but also less likely to clog and be dirty.
Installation
The installation process was very typical. It took me about 2-hours to remove the old toilet and install the new toilet. Honestly, un-boxing it took the most time.
Warranty
American Standard includes a 10-year warranty on the china and mechanical parts. This is a good extension compared to the typical 5-year warranty, which usually only covers the china.
Where to Buy
The American Standard VorMax is available on Amazon with out the seat.
